Community Profile
Everything we do at the Toronto Central CCAC is driven by one passion – helping people reach their best possible quality of life while working in partnership with others to help make our health system the best it can possibly be. Our inspiration comes from the 1.5 million residents we serve in communities from the Toronto and East York areas, stretching from Lakeshore Blvd. W. to St. Clair Ave. E.
Serving perhaps the most ethnically-diverse and rapidly growing urban community, Toronto Central is the only urban CCAC in the province. Nearly all of the world's culture groups are represented in Toronto.
Every day, hundreds of thousands of people from outside the city travel here, and nearly half of all hospitalizations and physician visits in Toronto involve people who live outside the city. There are more than 160 languages and dialects spoken in the Toronto area and we serve a large and growing newcomer population. Wide income and education disparities add to the complexity of the urban environment. Compared to other CCACs, Toronto Central has the highest rate of low-income people, but is also home to the most affluent.
Toronto has more museums then you can image. Everything from shoes to sugar, ceramic art, textiles to television, you can explore one or a multiple of things under one roof. Browse the art galleries, commercial or public for Canadian art and more. Examples of modern, ultra modern and classical architecture are everywhere - look up! And the music, film, theatre, dance, cultural events and festivities everywhere...
